6 benefits of tree planting for developers
Large Trees
Large Trees

can add instant maturity to a landscape, providing nearby buildings with vital scale in their surroundings. New developments often require screening trees in order to create a feeling of privacy and personal space.

Working with a design team from the outset of a project, Civic Trees are able to increase the cost effectiveness of large trees and provide developers with an extra edge over their competitors.

Climate/Air Quality

For every 10% increase in a city tree canopy, ozone is reduced by between 3-7%. A single tree can absorb CO2 at a rate of 21.6kg per year and release enough oxygen back into the atmosphere to support two human beings.

Planting trees is one of the most cost-effective means of removing excess CO2 from the atmosphere; research has shown a 60% reduction in particulates from exhaust fumes in tree-lined streets.

A Natural England study calculated that every £1 spent on tree planting would yield £7 in savings in terms of infrastructure and energy costs.

Meanwhile, other studies illustrate a 5-15% increase in the property values of tree lined streets, highlighting clear real estate benefits.

Trees also reduce temperatures through the creation of shade and water transpiration; one mature tree can have the same effect on cooling as 10 room-sized air-conditioning units.

Similarly tree planting reduces the effects of urban heat islands and hot spots in built-up areas meaning trees can save up to 10% of local energy consumption used for climate moderation.

Health and Wellbeing

Trees and green spaces have numerous physical, mental, and social benefits including the reduction of skin cancer, asthma, and obesity through the increase of filtered, unpolluted air and shading. The European Environment Agency has since shown that a 10% increase in trees and green spaces is associated with a reduction of diseases equivalent to an increase of 5 year life expectancy.

Trees can also reduce light and noise pollution by forming effective barriers from surrounding areas.

SUDS

Trees act as reservoirs, capturing up to 100,000 litres per annum by allowing some to evaporate, some to be absorbed into the tree and the rest to soak into the ground.

Reducing storm water runoff in this way also helps combat topsoil erosion.

Delivering large commercial projects and small scale residential schemes, whether you need a single specimen tree to mark the entrance to a building, or an entire avenue or wood of trees, we can deliver your scheme from concept to completion whatever its size.
