Large trees saved to make Homes & Communities greener
Civic Trees has competed the replanting of 22 Sorbus aria in Milton Keynes for the Homes & Communities Agency. The footpath along Cavan Way in the Broughton District has recently been refurbished and Civic Trees lifted the trees, which have a girth of 30/35cm, from a car park in the city three years ago before the site was being levelled for re-development.
The client was keen to retain this high quality tree stock for re-use around the expanding city.
Following lifting with a 1.1m diameter tree spade and rootballing in hessian and wire nets the trees were transported to the company’s nursery at Watford and maintained for two years whilst plans for their new home was finalised.
The site is adjacent the proposed route of the Milton Keynes to Bedford canal and a wildlife area. Their position alongside a gravel footpath the planting creates an attractive, ready-mature, landscape feature for the recently built residential district which borders the site.
Civic Trees are maintaining the trees to make sure that there is maximum success.
